final note . . . the members area is up and running, complete with a members
only bulletin board. This old board will be left in place for reference
(or historical value), but can no longer be posted to. I will try one more
time to host a public board for guests to this site who understand that this is
not a place for marketing, politics, or sexual nonsense. If it works out,
great . . . otherwise we will discontinue any attempt at hosting a forum for
non-members. Thanks for your understanding . . . peace be with
you. webmaster, dregenthal@comcast.net
Just a quick note . . . for those not completely aware of the problems of maintaining
a web presence: This guestbook has been mis-used by non 25th Inf Div LRP/LRRP/RANGER
types, and (excuse my French), shithead spammers for some time. Not having
the time available to remove the adds for viagra, penis enlargement, cheap drugs,
nasty girls (you get the picture), on a daily basis, the guestbook will be relocating
within the passworded area in the very near future (as your e-mail addresses on
the Operations Page already have). This will make the guestbook and other
more or less sensitive posts and pictures private, and unavailble to the aforementioned
goof balls. It had been my intention when I starteded this site in 1996
for it to be a public place for us to gather, to educate, and to post the truth
whether or not it was in vogue or if others wished to rewrite our history.
It has never been a place for politicism or personal attack, nor will it become
one. It would have been nice to maintain the status quo but things change
and you either change with them and move on or get left behind. I can not
thank enough the people who have posted here or in some small way contributed
to our website, and I will find a way to keep everyone involved . . . perhaps
the solution is to have two guestbooks, one that you can post to and a second
"mirror" copy that can be viewed by all but not altered with foul language,
commercial or political announcements? Your suggestions in this regard will
be appreciated. Stay in touch & get your password to the members area.
Thanks for your patience.

Just wanted to say Hi to all those that made it to the re-union and those that
did not you were missed. Thanks for the coin and the continued faith as your
unit director, however, I could not do this endeavor without some serious help
from some very special men. We have some plans that we
are working on for or publication and need support with some ideas that David
brought up. One is some stuff about individuals and what are we doing
today. We would also like to compile short/long articles for putting in a
book about 25th ID LRRP-F/Co Rangers Funny to serious stories about the men that
made the unit work. David I would like to say Thank you for the work you
do with the web site. Will accept any and all suggestions, well maybe not
all, but some suggestions. Joseph C. Little, MSW Readjustment Counselor

Hi Folks- Just returned from the reunion at Tacoma. Had a great time,
about 36 of us 25th Inf Div types in attendence. Looks like the spammers
and knuckleheads are not going to give us a break here (on the guestbook), I am
spending a lot of time just deleting their crap. Going to shut it down
until I arrive at a solution. Therefore, if you want to post here, you will have
to e-mail it to me first. Sorry, but we'll figure something out. (Too bad
these bucketheads don't leave their real addresses, huh?). In related
news, I have removed the "@" sign and replaced it with "(AT)" on the operations
page e-mail addresses-- this is to foil the web "bots" that collect our
addresses and send us spam. So, if you click on an e-mail address their
you must remember to the replace the (AT) with an @ before sending (cool,
huh?). webmaster <dregenthal@comcast.net> mystic islands, NJ USA -

I attended Bob Camp's memorial services. The only face I saw that I recognized
was that of Don Purdy. Or as the 2 Rangers,Capt & SFC, that came up to
present the flag to Mrs. Camp called him... Sargent Major Purdy They STILL know
him or know of him!!! Don made sure that the presentation of our country's flag
went perfect. The SS Secret Service provided protection of the home when Nancy
Camp attended Bob's services. I took pictures of Bob mainly at Go da Hoa navy
base & Cu Chi Base camp for the services. No one in his family had very seen
these pictures and I told everyone that this was the Bob Camp I knew. His mother
thanked me for making sure "Bobby" came back from Viet Nam safe. Imagine that!!!

cannot tell you how thrilled he was to receive them-thank you so much. His team
leader while serving as a Ranger in Vietnam, Jesse Salazar, actually got in his
car and drove from Texas to Georgia-a 16 hour trip-to visit Bob. Jesse and his
lovely wife, Tina, spent Saturday and Sunday with us, and even though Bob was in

to the list at large, i wasn't trying to straighten anyone out, i was trying to
give you , Frank, and anyone else interested, some idea of what went into the
compilation of those aar's. that anything made it to the national archives still
amazes me. but , when asking for info relating to co. F 75th the guy came back
with a box full of stuff. while looking through this material, i was
understandably looking for items relating to me and some of the guys i was
friends with. given the time restraints and again money (cash on hand ) i copied
what i could copy, and at my first opportunity gave them to dave to post , which
he did . I have nothing against frank or anyone else. I just wanted him and
others to know how the aar's came to be posted and i can assure you the copies
are as found in the archives. Kudos to Bill and Dave for the work they have done
and great works they are to keep this going. and kudos to any other of the guys
who do whatever they can to make this site the excellent site that it is. so far
i've had a pretty nice life and hope to continue to do so. i suspect that the
intent of Frank's post was to gain further info and was not a slam on the info
on this site. i am glad to see some of us at least talking and hope others will
chime in at their earliest opportunity. you are all the greatest guys i have
ever known and whether i know you or not and whether you know me or not , we are
members of a really unique fraternity. a fraternity that will gain no further
members and as time goes along will unfortunately lose members, that my friends
is a shame. we have gone through something that only those like us truly know.
to some of us they were bad times and to some of us not so bad times. for me it
was some of the best times of my life and i remember those of you i knew fondly
and a rarely a day goes by that i don't think of you and the times we had. of
late i have been thinking of Bob Camp , who is going through some really rough
times and this time may not make it through, i hope he does and if i have any, i
give him all the luck i can and i hope it helps him. if he doesn't make it ,
well i know there will be one hell of a guy covering our intertions as we jump
off into the unknown. knowing that guys like dave jacobs, milan lee,ken harjo

Joe, I salute you for your efforts. I in no way want anyone to think this isn't
a great idea. Since this site is open to whoever wants to look, I felt a

the intention is to provide a good record? Is for there to be a way for the guys
who were on those teams to be able to add to or edit sections of the AAR's.

Frank, I obtained some of those after action reports from the national archives
in washington dc, as i recall i had to register to gain access. i asked for any
records relating to F company 75th infantry, after a time a guy came to the

maybe they were monthly and those exact same scanned documents aar's as i recall
there were flimsy paper with lines representing lines of movement and a map

I have to tell you. After reviewing your AAR's on this web site I have come to
the assumtion that they seem bogus. If the list of AAR's is incomplete you
should so state it. I found where it makes it look like I was hardly ever in the
field when I can hardly remember times when I wasn't. Missions that I went on
that occurred on holidays I remember going on aren't there, missions I
secifically remember aren't there, the details aren't accurate. The unit was a
LRRP unit when I first got there so, how come all the AAR's say Ranger? I know
after all these years we are looking for every little thing to remind us of what
we did then but, let's not distort the record by putting a lot of bogus stuff
for the world to see. Maybe I'm being to critical? Sorry! Frank DeWitt <Antique@atlantic.net> Lake Panasoffkee, Florida USA -

It's not even June ( specifically June 4th ) but today felt like yesterdays
yesterday, as if it wasjust that, June 4th, 2003. Not that long ago, but some
days ages away.. but not today.
I was bantering with a "bright light" from the retired
community about "our stars & stripes"and the demoralization of our troops by
taking away the HONOR of raising Old Glory. To some it appeared "writen in law"
that we were not ALLOWED to raise our banner, our mirror of generations of brave
men and women who gave their life, their liberty (PoW/MIA)or their health to see
her fly. To some, like today, it's "just another day" blind loyalty toour
Commander and Chief comes before any symbol.. at least thats what it has felt
likeas I fielded answers to seveal emails that GROPED to find and substantiate
what Lonnie S. claimed. This ain't a wake up call that what Lonnie stated is JUST
NOT THERE, it's a wake up callover priorities.June 4th 2003 to some just another
day..but on that date we lost a man, I lost a friend whoknew where priorities
should be placed. He didn't just "utter" with words, he lived outa proper order.
He knew what brotherhood meant, he knew what friendship meant, heknew what love
meant as he overflowed with love and passed the surplus on.I think of Steve and
loose it.. forgot I can weep at times.. not many knew what Steve wasfacing as he
walked his walk for others, a selfless walk. He knew what was important, and
aimed toward that mark, and didn't let the "ego's" of the veterans movement or
thearm chair jocks deter him from completing a mission his final mission(s) of
helping hisbrother vets without complaining, nor drawing attention too his own
malady. I probablywouldn't have even known if I hadn't been working with him on
his claim and helpinghim ( he didn't really need much of that - I think his
calls were Steve's way of tryingto do what he did best, making some one else
feel good about themselfs.June 4, 2003 ... came back around today and I really
realized what an asset we lost,God gained. Didn't really know how much I missed
him - but I know today, some howI feel his presence. He seems to always be there
- even now - to undiscourage thediscouraged and place them back on track,
running toward the mark. Steve a 52 year old 2 tour ( 1968/69 ) NamVet who gave

Dave Jacob was truly one of the "good guys" . . . take my word for
it. While you never know anyone quite as well as you think, or as you
wished you had -- I knew Dave Jacob as a friend. He could be funny
and serious at the same time, and caring like few others I have
met. He looked forward to each reunion and attended because he loved
and trusted you guys ... he was proud to be a Ranger, proud of you, and proud to
be one of you. He would call occasionally just to see how you were
doing. He was exceptionally proud to introduce his son(s) at the
Tacoma Reunion in 1996. He also has a daughter and a wife that he
held in highest regard. No stranger to adversity, or the thoughts and
things that still trouble us some 30+ years after the fact -- yeah, he too had
his demons but in spite of the ups and downs, Dave remained the genuine
article--you would find none finer, a true gentlemen and a patriot. I
had the privilege of being able to take Dave to the Wall for his first encounter
in 1995. I have some video from then as well as two of the reunions
that I wish to share in honor of my friends spirit...you can find it here (broadband & windows media

To All Ranger Brothers, As you know David Jacobs passed away on 3/11/2004 from a
massive heart attack. This was truly a shock to all of us. I just saw Dave a few
months ago and was able to go to the Oregon coast with him and his lovely wife
Terri. His memorial was held on 3/16/2004. Ron Harrison and myself were able to
attend. My wife and I arrived in Portland the afternoon of 3/15/2004. We went to
the funeral home to to view Dave. He was dressed in or Colorado Springs reunion
shirt, which he was so proud of. The wreath that Joe Little so thoughtfully
ordered for us had arrived and was at the foot of the casket. The florist did a
gtreat job on it and the family really loved it. My wife and I then spent the

Sir, I am SSG Schoch the current Surveillance Platoon Sergeant of the Long Range
Surveillance Detachment. My Commander Cpt. Ivan Salgado and I came across your
website and wanted to contact you. We are ramping up for our deployment to
afghanistan in alittle over a month. We will be there for atleast a year
rotation. We would like to keep the former members of this great unit informed
as to what we have been doing to prepare and what we are doing while we are
deployed during Operation Enduring Freedom. When my Commander, 1SG and I viewed
your website we were very impressed with the content and enjoyed viewing the
pictures of Men of F co while in Vietnam. We have dedicated a room here to the
men of F co here at the detachment. It is still in the works. We have pictures
and stories about the men and their patrols hanging on the walls. We call this
room the "FOX RANGER ROOM". These soldiers that are in this unit today are ready
to deploy. We have been conducting live fire after live fire and running
missions in the Kahuku's, East Range and the Big Island. If you would like to
know what is going on with the Detachment I will be more than happy to meet your
requests SSG Joe Schoch <SchochJM@schofield.army.mil> Schofield Barracks, HI USA -
To all the Rangers/LRRPS/and everyone who served during wartime-I wish to let
you all know how proud we are of you, and to give you some news about one of
your own who was never so proud as when he served as a Ranger with you. My
husband, Robert (Bob) Camp, is seriously ill, and I want to let all his friends
know what is happening. Last November, a seemingly routine backache got
progressively worse. After seeing a series of doctors, we learned in January of
this year that Robert had a pathological fracture of his vertebra, in his lower
back, caused by a massive tumor. He had major surgery 1/13/04, and it was
successful in that the vertebra-which was no longer bone, but merely powder-was
re-built using cement, wire, and some of his own bone harvested from his hip.
This ended the excrutiating pain-the spinal cord was compressed to only 1/4 its
normal width-and he avoided, thankfully, paralysis or death. The bad news is the
tumor migrated there from elsewhere. In Robert's case, he has a large mass in
his upper right lung, and more lesions in his liver, sternum, and a rib. He has
just begun chemo and radiation, and is doing well with those, but the horrible
fact is that he cannot be cured, and these interventions are only to buy time
and make him more comfortable. He had been pain free after the back surgery, but
now, the lung mass is growing so large that it is pressing painfully into his
collarbone area, and causing such pain he is forced to lie prone-sitting or
standing can't be tolerated for more than a few minutes. We have hope that the
newly begun radiation which is targeting this problem will yield results. In the
meantime, we don't know how much time he has but none of the doctors are
optimistic that it will be significant-when pushed, they count time in months.
Of course, we are hoping for the best. I want to let you know that his email is
currently full, and he is too ill to use it, so please, email me at my
address-nlcamp@adelphia.net-and I shall print out your letters and give them to
him. He is currently doing pretty well, and I know how much he wants to reach
out to you guys. Thank you so much, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Bill Leonard here, Warlord 18, 117th Assault Helo Co. We supported 51st and
151st LRRPS in 3rd Corps in 68-69. Welcome home RANGERS. I am not a political
guy, but I got pissed today hearing comments from the Kerry camp about
Reservists and Guardsmen joining to avoid Vietnam. I for one am still damn proud
to have work with some true PROFESSIONALS even though you were "guardsmen". You
guys should mount an email/letter campaign informing the general public about
how wrong Mr. Kerry is to bad mouth you guys. How many of you warriors threw
your medals over the Whitehouse fence in protest only to find them later and
hang proudly on your wall? Way too convenient and opportunistic for me. I am
proud to have served with you guys, and would like the public to hear from you
on this matter. Bill Leonard <waleonard@erols.com> Solomons, MD USA -

Greetings from Houston, TX. My name is Lisa. Let me thank you for such an
informative site. I used it to compose cliff notes and free essays for my class.
Your site is indeed a wonderful source for all my future term papers and
research papers.
in 1969, before I became a member of F/75 I was with B/1/27. I ran into a guy I
knew from that company a while back and he told me that he had been on a small
detail sent to rescue some guys who were lost and under fire. He said that after
they got the guys and were headed back in the dark, unbeknownst to them at the
time they were spotted by a Ranger team. He told me that he heard later that,
despite being told by some officer to blow the ambush on my friends group, the
Rangers held their fire because they just didn't beleive that there were any
6'4" NVA. One of the guys was real tall. I seem to vaguely remember hearing
about this. Can anyone confirm? It was around the fall of 1969, obviously in the

I'm writing of Steve Morey's death today. He was a friend of mine. I met him by
accident on the internet just before a Ranger reunion some 5 or 6 years ago. I
almost fell off my chair when he said he was a LRRP for the 25th. Steve's tour
was in '68. That automatically means he saw some hard and frequent stuff. One
look at the man would tell you that. He had a hard, crazy life and it showed. He
was also a surprisingly loving and understanding man. I called him occasionally
and he ALWAYS told me the same thing. He'd say, "Don't be afraid to call me if
you need to talk." IEmmet Hilltibrand has done an outstanding job and continues

A SHORT, WEIRD RANGER MISSION STORY---I was out with 23, Sgt. Schommer's team.
We'd had no contact and were on a listening/rest break. As usual, at this part
of a mission everyone was deathly still and quiet. The object was to be able to
hear the slightest sound and, as I said before, rest. I sat there shock still
and a lizard about 4' long approached me. These common lizards in Vietnam were
in the Monitor family, though smaller their bite would result in an extremely
dangerous infection. I thought my hair would stand on end as he got to within a
few feet of my leg. Suddenly he started digging furiously (like a damn
squirrel). He found his prize, a piece of animal dung (feces) that he must have
buried before. He clawed it in half and began to eat the dozens of maggots(?)
that were inside. Then he walked away. I'll never forget it. Steve Steve Grzesik <saltwaterguy@hotmail.com> Da Beach, FL USA -

I too want to thank you for keeping John Rowland's picture on the site. It is a
great tribute since I don't feel that he was honored the way he should have been
when he died. John served many times on honor guards and for him not to have had
an honor guard or a 21 gun salute was hard for my sons David and Daniel. They
had both served in the Army too and would have liked to have had this for their
dad and could have arranged it. Nancy Rowland Herzel Nancy

Gentlemen, I want to first say how proud I am of our troops and their bravery
and skill in freeing Iraq. I couldn't be prouder of them. I was however a little
upset that the Marines said that they did all the fighting and the Army could
come in and take over when they leave. Guess they don't realize all the Special
Ops that was going on while they were riding in their tanks. What about the 3rd
Inf div and the 82nd airborne? There is enough glory to go around and they don't
have to hog it. Unfortunely we didn't have the backing of the country when we
fought and died in Nam. Maybe America has learned it's lesson. Hope so. What do
you guys think how America handled this Iraq thing? Frank DeWitt <antique@atlantic.net> Lake Panasoffkee, Florida USA -
Once again,an apology for two things.Talked bad about Rowland.Didn't know what I
was talking about.Drunken a hole talk. Second is that I still have Klez 32 and
can't get rid of it.As insulting as I've talked, you guys have cut me slack.

Sorry, wrong F Co. I was with Co,F 51st,Inf. LRRP. ABNWe were replaced by Co.D
151st. Rangers ABN. Then you guys replaced them, if I got it right. I was also
with 151st. till mid July. I walked rear security, carried a thumper with M16
slung. We were working for the 25th out of Chu Chi. When on Oct.14th. I got shot
through right hip & shrapnel in left thigh. Recooped in Japan for 3 months,
went on a misson in mid Jan. Left leg very, very week. Could hardly walk with
all that gear, kept falling down. The rest of the team was not thrilled with my
(Lame Ass)! They convinced me to go to sick call, got 90 day light duty profile.
Got sent to 151st. later the same day. It was looking like I'd be guarding the
wire every other night. But got lucky and TOP, had me learn the Mail Clerk's
job. He (TOP) said quote: Hell, you done your part. Carry ON!! Great Site! Keith O Morris (LURCH) <kodi-kyrr@msn.com> Leitchfield, Kentucky USA -

I have written a novel, taking place in Vietnam. After reading and studying a
great deal on the subject, I am confident I know more than most people. However,
I am very aware I obviously do not know as much as someone who actually was
there. I've tried to make it as true to life as I could, but I could use the
help of people who know much more than I to make it acurate. I would be greatly
honored to have any veterans who would like to read and critque it do so. Please
contact me if you are interested. Eric J. Belrose <ZpplnZ28@aol.com> Mooers, NY USA -

Fair is fair. Terry O'Boyle (and anyone else), if you're listening. Here is the

Gentlemen- I received an e-mail from Terry this past December, apologizing to
all. I'm fairly certain he knows (now) his machine has the klez, but probably
not what to do about it. As fellow Veterans I'm not sure sending 3mb files to
him is the appropriate course of action. If you maitain a current anti-virus
software I think you ought to be in pretty good shape, otherwise maybe set up an
e-mail filter (can be done easily in Netscape or IE). Either way, let's not use
this site to flame each other, huh? We've all experienced enough trauma over
time and, until you've "walked a mile" in anothers' boots you really don't know

Just wanted to say hello to all of company F Brothers and inform all that I do
still exist. Some of you know that I am in the final stages of completing my
master's program as a shrink and may and I say may go on for my doctorial,
however I am tired of school for now. I will be in DC this Veterans Day at the
Wall as I have been for many years with a group of fifty Vets from Arizona a
program sponsored in part by the Vet centers in AZ, called Operation Freedom
Bird. The purpose of OFB is to continue the therapy started at the Vet center
funded by private donations from the community. This year we will have General
Hal Moore and Joe Gallaway, some congressional and the undersecretary from the
VA as speakers at our dinner banquet. This has been a pet project of mine that
started with a friend of mine from the 101st airbourne and has continued for
fifteen years now. Last year Sandel found me there and I hope to see others
there as well. I hope all are doing well. I also wish all an Honorable Veterans
Day you all deserve the recognition for your service to this nation, take pride
